Time Remapping

Ryusuke Kido and  Wit Pimkanchanapong

25 Apr 2013 - 16 Jun 2013
Opening in late April, “Time Remapping” comprises collaborative works of two outstanding young artists – Thailand’s Wit Pimkanchanapong and Japan’s Ryusuke Kido. The two became interested in each others’ work upon meeting in 2010 at Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan. We are pleased to have Ryusuke Kido join us in Bangkok for the first time to participate in our three-month Artist in Residency program.

“Time Remapping” is inspired by a rubber plantation the two artists visited on a 300-km bicycle trip down the east coast of Thailand. Both artists shared interest in the transformation process of rubber from liquid to solid, a process capturing the tensions between nature and human development. The concept of time is critical to their pieces – the artists stopping, hiding, speeding, or slowing time. Their sculptures freeze time, while the whole time playing with its concept.

This mixed-media exhibition will be on view from 25 April 2013 – 16 June 2013, and is part of our 10th year anniversary celebration.
